PHNOM PEHN |
PHNOM PEHN
Exploring the city on foot As it was in the middle of the day we decided to start exploring the city right away. Walking over Phnom Pehn was not that easy as there were lots of tuk-tuk drivers that were nagging at us as they wanted to drive us. We started by walking over to Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. I was so impressed by the Palace and it was filled with images from Buddha 's life. Then we continued our walk along the river side of the Mekong River. Then we decided to go to Psar Thmei (Central Market)- the market was actually a huge dome building. There were lots of stalls inside and outside the building and it was fun to browse through this section as they were selling all sorts of stuff. |
SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA |
Getting Around SIEM REAP
Siem Reap’s city center is best explored on foot or on “tuk tuk” (a rickshaw with the front-end of a motorcycle). Tuk tuks, although not luxurious, are easy to find and inexpensive, not to mention these quirky vehicles have views in all directions and will add a little adventure to your daily commutes. Most of the city’s large hotels are located outside the central part of the city, along Airport Road, (technically) walking distance from the town center and the dining / entertainment districts. On the other hand, the price of a tuk tuk ride to the market is about 1 USD per person and you will do plenty of walking while exploring the Angkor complex. |

SRI LANKAOct 14, '10 8:34 PM
Me & my family were able to experience living in Colombo Sri lanka for almost a year while my husband was an expat for almost 5 years. Sri lanka is a small tropical island of the Southern tip of India. It is also known as Ceylon. Sri means 'BLESSED" and Lanka is the name of the island. It is famous for the production of tea, coffee, coconuts, rubber and cinnamon. Sri Lanka has lead to the title of "The Pearl of the Indian Ocean" bec. of its lush tropical forest, white beaches and reverse landscape throughout along with a rich biodiversity. There are 3 official language in Srilanka, Sinhale, Tamil and English. We were also able to experience Tamil & Sinhales New Year, It is very grand with elegant costumes. And of course, I was able to wear their native dress which is the Sarong and the Sari. It is really an awesome & unforgettable experience living in Sri Lanka. |

We were able to visit and explore Hongkong Island, The Pearl of East and Jewel of the Orient. Hong Kong is famous for its gold and foreign exchange market, natural deep water harbour, commercial trade and toy manufacturing. You can find your own place in this city from the soothing Big Buddha statue, Po Lin Monastery and the vibrant Temple Street night market. Also the stunning view of the Hongkong Island on Victoria Peak, atop the giant, wokshaped Peak tower. We took a tram journey on Hongkong - a slow yet special form of transport running on Hongkong Island. We went to see the "Golden Tulip" monument and also we were able to see Ngong Ping - a Buddhist Themed Park that features Imperial Chinese architecture, intellectual shows, demos, rest. and coffee shops. And finally, we saw Jakie Chan's house. We also saw this huge Floating Restaurant in Aberdeen Harbour, that was said to be so damn high class. We were brought to the jetty to see how some rich people's yachts and how they live their luxurious envious by many lives. We went to the southern side of Hongkong to see Ocean Park - The cable car is an icon with roller coasters and large aquarium altogether. And lastly, the HK Disneyland which is in Lantau Island. |
